Packing Your Storage Unit

Now that you have found the storage facility you are ready to move all your stuff in right? well before you do, let's go over a few things that may make your experience a little better. First all think about what your storing and for how long. Will anything need special packing, or special attention as it sits in storage? maybe you have wood furniture that will be sitting for a long time, It may be smart to throw some wood preserver oil on that furniture. If you have digital file, vinyl records, etc maybe you need a climate controlled unit.

As you start packing your items remember that these items will be shifting during the move to the storage facility and then again when you take them out of the storage facility. Be sure to tape those boxes securely so they won't break apart. Also as you're packing your items use plenty of bubble wrap, packing paper, blankets, etc...

When you get to your storage facility take a moment to look at the space your working with and the items you need to store. It's almost like a game of Tetris. As you start moving item into your storage unit, place the heavier and bulky items towards the floor and the rear of the unit. keep packing your unit fitting things as close as you can to your other items to maximize your space. As you move your items in, create a pathway or and isle to the rear of the unit. This will help in case you ever need one item in the back of the unit later. Keep those labels facing out toward the door or the isle.

Finally when you get it all packed in the storage unit good, place a strong secure lock on that door. Usually the disc locks are the ones that we recommend. They prevent bolt cutters from getting around the lock bar.
